Are you fed up with the huge numbers of potholes on our roads locally and frankly some of them are pretty big and a little dangerous. I also frequently cycle around the county when I can and the level of potholes on the road is a nightmare for cyclists.

Well it seems help is at hand as the Department of Transport announced a pot of some £100 million as an exceptional payment to local authorities to repairs road which were damaged by last winters severe weather conditions. Because of additional savings this pot has now doubled to £200m.

Just under £3m of that money is coming to Cambridgeshire County Council and then hopefully more locally to repair Huntingdon's roads. Cambridgeshire is getting one of the smallest payments nationally but the Council has also earmarked an extra £5m over two years for repairs.

So if you have done so before now is the time to report any hot holes that you find on your travels around Huntingdonshire. It is important that the council know where the worst ones are

There is an on line system of reporting pot holes and other highways problems and can be accessed via the county council website, www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk

I travel around the country quite a bit for work and the roads in Huntingdonshire are now way as bad as they are in other parts of the country. I welcome to extra investment in the roads as in some parts they are dangerous, but it is right that other areas get a larger percentage of this money.
