UCL Division One ---
Thrapston Town 2-0 Huntingdon Town ---
HUNTINGDON Town's defensive frailties surfaced once again as they fell to a defeat against a Thrapston side they beat comfortably just four weeks ago.
It was Town's only game during a Christmas period in which they saw home ties against Peterborough Northern Star and Burton Park Wanderers cancelled because of the weather.
Co-manager Al Lenihan said the club had been expecting a bumper crowd for the visit of Northern Star on Boxing Day.
"It was a shame that we couldn't get that game on, because we know we would have had a lot of people there given the links between the two teams, and the former players on both sides," he said.
Town's defence, which has been leaking goals at a rate of nearly two per game, was their undoing once again against Thrapston.
Huntingdon should have taken a lead into the break as two gilt-edged chances went begging, but Thrapston improved after the break and Callum Ridgway slotted home the opener on 62 minutes. Ross Whitney sealed the win with a second goal in the final minute of the match.
Huntingdon have a week off league duties this week as they face Ramsey Town in the quarter-final of the Hunts Senior Cup, but then face a run of five consecutive home games that Lenihan hopes can be a springboard for Town to rise up the league.
At Eynesbury Rovers, Matt Plumb's team lost both their Christmas games to the weather, hitting the club's revenue hard.
Plumb said: "To lose both of the games was a disaster on the financial front. We have managed to keep training, but as a small club we need those festive games to bring in some much-needed revenue.
