Huntingdonshire Residents Make Their Homes Warmer and Cheaper to Run

Over 250 Huntingdonshire residents have contacted Eastern Carbon Reduction Initiative (CRI) to take advantage of grants that will help towards making their homes warmer and cheaper to run.

Previously information on grants was available from a number of organisations. The Eastern CRI project has created a convenient, central point for all grant enquiries, to help residents with the insulation of efficiency measures in their homes.

The project installs cavity wall and loft insulation for householders across the East of England including Huntingdonshire. Eastern CRI is a partnership of local authorities including Huntingdonshire District Council and can provide details of any local grants for householders as well as taking advantage of the national grants available throughout the UK.

The installers all work to the same standards of delivery and costs ensuring that a consistent installation service level has been achieved. A private household can have cavity wall or loft insulation installed for as little as £169, those that are over 70 may even qualify to have the installation carried out for free.

Councillor Jonathan Gray said: “Eastern CRI is a worthwhile project that all local authorities of the East of England are part of. We are pleased to see that it is establishing itself in Huntingdonshire. Eastern CRI also fits in well with the messages we are delivering though the Green House Project; retrofitting measures to homes to make them more sustainable doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive, it can be something as simple as insulating your loft, and it will help you save money on your fuel bills.”

Bruce Pittingale, project director said: “Eastern CRI is also expanding its product range to include solid wall insulation, a range of renewable technologies such as solar PV to help heat your homes and to provide quality information that will help your homes become more environmentally friendly and more affordable to run.”
