Have you ever wanted someone to just come in and translate your ideas for your lounge or kitchen into reality? Or just to source out the perfect piece of furniture for your dining room table? Or a unique shelving unit for an awkward space, perhaps? Or maybe you are stuck with co-ordinating which colours will work together in your on-suite bathroom? Well that's is where interior designers like Lorna at LJH Interior Design come to your rescue.

LJH Interior Design specialise in domestic interiors which can mean a range of different things depending on your needs. Typically that could mean co-ordinating the colours for a room, planning best use and design for a home, soft furnishings, or designing and producing the perfect piece of bespoke furniture (it's not as expensive as you might think).

LJH's motto and raison d'etre is to Make a House a Home and you can feel just from talking to Lorna that this really is fundamental to the business. She is passionate about interior design and the processes and the relationship with her clients and translating their ideas and dreams into reality.

LJH Interior Design-wise are based just down the road in Cambourne and have been designing some frankly stunning interiors since 2004 after Lorna finished her studies at Chelsea College of Art & Design. I have put a few pictures here with the article, take a look, but I do also recommend visiting the portfolio page on the LJH Interiors website to see the full range of Lorna's design.

Occasionally Lorna's says her clients have a clear idea of what they want for the house and it is just for Lorna to make that happen, but more generally people only have vague idea or a feeling of how they want the room to be. Lorna translates these vague thought and feelings into reality. Usually with a presentation of her interpretation of the clients ideas. It is an incredibly exciting part of the process.

We talked a bit about lighting as Lorna feels this is one of the most important and exciting parts of designing beautiful and functional interior spaces to make them a home. The way that room is lit can completely change the mood and feel of a space. So it is important to get the lighting right and that may be lighting for ambient, accent, task, decorative and kinetic purposes or multiple purposes. Changing the light can change the feel and function of a space.

OK, so what is your Lorna's favourite colour? It is one of the first questions I always want to ask a designer. Design-wise neutral colours as you can then add pieces of colour to change the mood and feel of a room. But when pushed Lorna chose blue as her favourite colour.

Judging by the variety of styles on the website Lorna is more than capable of working with different styles to suit clients aspirations, from older traditional style such as gothic or grand family house style to more modern and contemporary styles of design. As well as looking great LJH Interior Designs believe in the importance of the functionality of spaces, Lorna says 'I believe that good design should enhance your lifestyle as well as being functional. It should look good but it should also 'feel' good'.
