Our Guide to Weddings in Huntingdon
By LongBaker | Monday, September 13, 2010, 10:11
I went to some friends wedding last month, when we still had sunshine. It seemed like the whole village was there. It was a fantastic day and I know my friends had a great day, but like most weddings it doesn't always feel that way when you are still in the planning stages. Organising a wedding is a very stressful business. I know they had a pretty stressful time. So, I thought Huntingdon People should help by suggesting some of the better place to get all the standard necessary parts to making the perfect wedding day.

Wedding Rings and Flowers
We obviously can't cover everything and each wedding will be slightly different but we will cover some venues, flowers, transport, wedding dresses and the honeymoon of course. So lets get married.
Venues
Hinchingbrooke House is probably the most spectacular venue in Huntingdon for weddings with a choice of beautiful rooms and a
The Old Bridge Hotel is a popular wedding venue overlooking the Great Ouse River and the Godmanchester/Huntingdon bridge it certainly is a beautiful venue.
For Flowers we have Mulberries and Flowers by Nicola Jane both provide full flowers services for weddings and there are other local florists. Check the directory for the full list of local Florists.
Transport
How about arriving in style in a horse drawn carriage. Gibson Carriage Master as based just down the road in Buckden and a memorable way to arrive at the church. Or if you want a little more in the way of horse power Calibre Chauffeur Services have some great cars. The standard Royce, Daimler and Mercedes, but also fantastic Barnsdale and Burghampton replica 1930's cars.
What's the most important part of the wedding? Sure it's the bit us men aren't allowed to see till the day itself. Until she walks down that isle. It's the wedding dress of course. It is also the only item of clothing that you hope to wear only once.
The best places to get your wedding dress in the Huntingdon area is at Harvey's Bridal Boutique in Ramsey or at Aphrodite of Huntingdon in Kings Ripton or Weddings by Karen Jane in Fenstanton. Karen Jane also have lots of extras such as jewellery, tiaras and veils as well as shoes. For Karen Jane “the most important person is you the bride and that is why we pride ourselves on giving the highest level of service along with a relaxed and comfortable setting in which to choose the perfect gown.”
For the finishing touches to the wedding day look. The are any number of local hairdressers in our Huntingdon People directory most of who will be able to provide full wedding services for the bride and bridesmaids.
And For The Honeymoon
Where to go for the honeymoon? Europe, West Indies or Asia? Wherever you decide it can be booked through any of the Huntingdon Travel Agents in our directory.
For my friends that had a great days and said that the whole stress was worth it in the end. Though next time (he he!) they might get someone else to organise it for them.
That's our brief guide to wedding in Huntingdon. But if you know of any other services that you would recommend or have any advice for brides and grooms to be. Let us all know here.
