Are you a student planning to go to University next year? Is the prospect of having to pay double the amount in fees likely to put you off going? It would certainly make me think twice. I think we will see a range of different prices for the same courses around the country depending on the status of each university. So it is likely that students will make decisions on which course and /or university to attend based on cost. That will be particularly true of students of less well off backgrounds.

So much for the equality of opportunity sound bites from the coalition then!
