What is the quickest way from Huntingdon to Whitby, North Yorkshire?
Well it's 149 miles as the crow flies, or should I say as the racing pigeon flies. The Whitby Premier Invitation Club brought 124 pigeons down here to Huntingdon to let them go in a race back up North to Whitby. The winning pigeon owned by S Mallinson took just 2 hours and 19 minutes to cover the distance.
My maths is a bit ropey but I think that means it flew at about 64mph. Can that be right? Does anyone know how fast racing pigeons can fly?
