Huntingdon Town Council has allocated nearly £45,000 for the town's CCTV network over the coming year.

HDC currently funds the entire network but has asked from external contributions next year to cover costs.

The Hunts Post reported that £44,800 that has been set aside by the council will cover half of the running costs for 28 of the 37 cameras in 2012. Nine of the cameras are based at HDC car parks and so are not included on the list.

The Huntingdon cameras cost £272,000 to run for a year, the largest cost being for staff and line rental.
