Man Talked Down off Bridge by Huntingdon Station

Police had to talk down a man from the bridge near Huntingdon railway station on Friday and the A14 westbound and the Brampton Road where both close for few hours as the man, not yet named sat with his feet dangling over the edge.
Police finally persuaded him down at around 4.15. Crowds of commuters, passers-by and students had gathered to watch.
A police spokesman said that tailbacks on the A14 had stretched to Girton, but that as of 4.30pm, all roads had been re-opened.

I suspect the police were business trying to persuade the man not to take his own life, which I would is more important than traffic being delayed but a few hours. Nice that you showed concern for this man's well being.

ReportThis is the second time in under a year that the A14 has been closed on this stretch, and where the police have failed to put proper diversions into place. Last time I was stuck without moving for over two hours on the road over the station area when a truck carrying feathers caught fire. We were not allowed to leave the road at Godmanchester.
This time because drivers were left to find their own way around the blockage, it took me three hours to get home from cambridge, and I ended up going as far south as St Neots to get around the block.
Why do we bother having a police force if they can't deal with incidents like this responsibly?
