MP Djanogly Renews Call for A14 Upgrade
By LongBaker | Friday, November 18, 2011, 12:22
Local MP Djanogly renews his support for upgrades to the A14 by writing to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, and the Secretary of State for Transport, Justine Greening, asking them to consider the A14 upgrades. Mr Djanogly said "the A14 upgrade is just the sort of project that the Chancellor should be considering as a Government infrastructure project to help boost the country's recovery from recession."

In the letter Mr Djanogly argues that as well has the A14 having an extraordinarily high accident (two accident this morning) the road is of both regional and national importance. It is the main route for traffic to and from Felioxstowe and Birmingham. The area is seen as one of the few growth areas for business and development, with the enterprise zone at Alconbury as an example but that will be held back by the lack investment in this road.
Whilst the new guided busway seems to be popular at the moment, I agree with Jonathan Djanogly that this service is in no way a solution to problems on the road.

I wish he had stood up a little taller when the plans were still actually on the table.
It's easy to stand up now. It's not likely to happen and everyone will think he is great again because he tried.
