Huntingdonshire District Council's Executive Leader, Councillor Jason Ablewhite officially signed the Armed Forces Community Covenant at a concert held yesterday (Sunday 18 December 2011).

The Armed Forces Covenant aims to encourage local organisations to support the local Armed Forces community and to make it easier for Service personnel, families and veterans to access all the support and help available to them. The scheme is intended as a two way arrangement and the Armed Forces community are encouraged to do as much as they can to support their community and to promote activity which helps to integrate Service personnel into civilian life.

Councillor Jason Ablewhite said: 'I am extremely proud to be part of this ceremony which shows our commitment to help the Armed Forces. I am very keen to support any initiatives that help our Service personnel in the commendable and dedicated work that they do for this country.'

The signing of the Covenant took place after a concert at the Guildhall in Cambridge and was attended by council leaders from across the region.
