Half Term Fun at Paxton Pits Nature Reserve

The area was specially opened and families were able to pick up an explorer kit and take part in activities including; pond dipping, making a minibeast hotel, creating colourful wildlife bunting, making a Paxton Pits postcard and building a home for frogs and newts.

Huntingdonshire District Council ranger Kirsty Drew said: "Last year our volunteers helped to landscape the Environmental Education Area into an inspiring wildlife garden. To see it being used this week by families with children ranging from toddlers to teenagers has been absolutely brilliant. They have even gone away having learnt about what they can do to encourage nature into their own gardens."

The half term activities were organised by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire and, through the successful partnership between the district council, the Wildlife Trust and the Friends of Paxton Pits Nature Reserve, many more people have become closer to the wildlife of Paxton Pits.
